K. Mills is an artist from Ipswich who works in different mediums of art and photography.
Art was originally a hobby and creative outlet for self-care but in 2023 the artist experienced her first episode of depression/anxiety and used art as a part of her journey of recovery for hope and healing.
This is her second year exhibiting as part of Recovered Futures and in 2024 she has focussed on themes of environment and recovery, exploring how colour and nature impact mental health and in turn can be healing.
She hopes to convey art as a shared experience, where those creating and those viewing can be supported on their journey of recovery and healing and recognition that you are not alone.
The inspiration for this painting was from a photograph I had taken. The photograph captured a beautiful connection between two horses, and I wanted to depict this as a painting that says YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
It recognises the importance of other people on a journey of mental health. You can't do it alone – care for each other. Thank you to the people that stand next to us, understand us and support us though our individual journeys.
