Justine is a British-born multidisciplinary artist and photographer based in sunny Brisbane.

As a nurse, Justine has witnessed countless mental health journeys. She loves helping others find healing through art and nature, spotlighting the stirring power of purposeful colour, intelligent design, and intricate detail in re-kindling light and hope from indifference. Her vibrant and observational works celebrate borrowed moments of beauty, wonder, charm, vulnerability, connection, chaos, and calm - all expressed through a uniquely kaleidoscopic palette.

Through her work, Justine hopes to inspire renewed curiosity, conservation, care, and appreciation for the phenomenal designs surrounding us in nature, and the open-mouthed awe they instil in the grateful observer.

This collection was hand-formed using a blend of ancient ceramic processes (Obvara/Baltik Raku + Saggar/Horsehair). Many vessels do not withstand the pressure and shock of superheating to 850 degrees then plunging into cold water, and immediately crack or shatter.

Having my collection survive through this process reminded me of the resilience that we so often possess after emerging from our own tests and trials. The beautiful and intricate patterns seared onto these pieces are the records of what was endured, with no two coming out the same. Similarly, our own marks and scars are beautiful indicators of our unique battles in life and the courage we show in the face of fire. They cannot be replicated nor removed - only celebrated.
