After suffering from a significant mental health challenge in 2018 and an extended stay in hospital, Katherina was 'prescribed' art therapy to assist in her recovery. She had never participated or tried art before, so she was very nervous.
Now six (6) years later Katherina knows art saved her life. It is the only thing that brings peace to Katherina's mind, while enjoying the connection to the pieces that she paints.
Katherina attributes some of her success to the assistance of her amazing art teacher, who assists her bring her emotions and feelings to life on canvas. Out of all the therapies Katherina has participated in for her depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder - she finds art to be the best.
I created this artwork to convey the peace of mind that art gives me.
The turtle is swimming weight-free under the sea without daily pressures. I have this same feeling when I am painting, I am taken away from my very busy and overwhelmed mind.
