Raffaella Picotti is an Italian-born artist living and working in Ipswich. Working primarily in acrylic and oil, she creates contemplative paintings inspired by nature, animals, memory, and the emotional landscapes of human experience.

Deeply influenced by Flemish painting, symbolism, and the natural world, Picotti's work explores themes of resilience, connection, healing, and renewal. Through carefully observed details, dramatic light, and intimate narratives, she creates quiet spaces where vulnerability and hope can coexist.

Having experienced her own journey through mental health challenges, Picotti’s paintings often focus on recovery, reflection, and the restorative relationship between people, animals, and nature. Her work celebrates the small moments of comfort, wonder, and connection that help sustain us through life’s challenges.

'The Silent Threshold' is a meditation on stillness, hope, and transformation. Framed by flowers and a distant landscape, a cat stands between the familiar and the unknown. The butterfly symbolises change and renewal, while the open view invites contemplation of new possibilities. This work reflects the quiet courage required to move forward, reminding us that healing is often found not in dramatic moments, but in small acts of trust, curiosity, and hope.
