The Journey
Carissa George is a Brisbane-based mixed-media artist whose practice explores resilience, identity, and transformation. Drawing on lived experience and a background in healthcare, her work is grounded in observation, emotion, and intuitive process. Through layered textures, mark-making, and muted palettes, she creates pieces that hold space for reflection rather than resolution.
Carissa's work often centres on moments of pause and quiet strength, capturing the tension between vulnerability and endurance. By allowing forms to emerge and recede, Carissa invites the viewers to engage with their own inner landscapes and experiences. She has exhibited in curated group exhibitions across Brisbane, continuing to develop a practice rooted in authenticity, connection, and the ongoing process of becoming.

'The Journey' is a diptych exploring movement, endurance, and quiet strength. Across two canvases, the horses become a symbol of momentum, carrying both tension and release. The split composition reflects the nonlinear nature of growth, where progress is not contained to a single moment but unfolds over time. Rather than focusing on destination, this work honours the act of continuing, trusting instinct, embracing uncertainty, and finding strength in the space between where you have been and where you are going.
