Paul Dudfield (Pauly Jay) is a Brisbane-based artist and barber whose work blends street art influences with contemporary portraiture and mixed-media techniques. Balancing life as a barbershop owner and professional artist, Paul has long used creativity as both a form of self-expression and a way to navigate life’s challenges. Having experienced periods of struggle with mental health, art became an important outlet for processing emotions, finding purpose, and building resilience.

Paul's work combines spray paint, acrylics, texture, and bold imagery to explore themes of strength, identity, hope, and human connection. Through both his art and his daily interactions behind the barber’s chair, Paul is passionate about creating meaningful connections and inspiring others to keep moving forward through adversity.

'The Don Mega' is a tribute to Ice Cube - one of hip hop's most influential artists, writers, and cultural icons. Created using layers of vintage newspaper clippings, music references, and street-inspired textures, the portrait reflects the depth of his legacy and the lasting impact he has had on music, film, and popular culture. The fusion of hyper-realism and collage symbolises the many chapters of his career, while the bold composition captures the confidence, resilience, and authenticity that earned Ice Cube the nickname 'The Don Mega'.
