Sunlit Swirling

Helena's passion to create is inspired by the beauty of the natural world; each artwork a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. Creating with intuition rather than premeditation, she is always thrilled to experience the moment a painting takes on a life of its own.

While exploring an abstraction of reality, the realistic edge that Helena brings to each painting alters and enhances recognisable objects. Her creations celebrate colours and textures, with acrylic her medium of choice, followed by oils and watercolours. Helena hopes to inspire those who see her paintings to look more carefully at the natural world around them, and discover beauty in unusual places.

'Sunlit Swirls' accentuates a person’s resistance to opening themselves up to emotional wellbeing. Yellow represents thoughts; implying intellectualising and resisting going with the flow of happy thoughts, which is represented by the figure in the flowing orange dress. You can see the figure in the orange dress reaching out to the figure on the left, but her thoughts are holding her back. The figure in the front is burying her head in dark thoughts; turning away from the invitation to swirl in sunlight.
