Spring Fox

Monica Batiste has always found art to be a means of expressing herself and bringing her thoughts into being. She paints portraits, figurative pieces, flowers, and landscapes in oils, and illustrates children’s books in gouache. 

Monica's mental health has been a challenge her whole life. After a difficult childhood that met with a difficult adulthood and decades of recovery, she now finds herself in meaningful and happy relationships with friends and family who love her and bring her much joy. 

Every day, Monica is challenged by triggers; therefore every day includes breathwork, yoga, art, and love to support alignment and wellbeing. Monica sees painting and drawing as lifelines into light. The world is a better place when we express ourselves through our art.

Spring brings new life and adventures after the cool season of winter. New growth, new life, new possibilities and beginnings. For the fox, cubs are born, the air is fresh, and flowers bloom. This is the first time families will emerge from their den to explore the world. This painting reflects my daughters bringing new life into the world and bringing so much joy to our combined families.
