Kerry Dodds was inspired to paint as therapy in 2019 after discovering a fascination with light and colour and how they affect or convey mood.
Kerry is a self-taught artist, working mainly in acrylic and mixed media, taking inspiration from landscapes and the human experience. Kerry works from her home studio in Petrie, Queensland.
She is In There Somewhere delves into the labyrinthine quest for self-discovery. I used abstract forms and vibrant colours to evoke an ongoing search for identity, purpose and spiritual fulfilment. It asks whether the sought-after essence is an emotion, a visual recognition, or something profoundly transcendent.
The interplay of light and shadow symbolises the complexity and multifaceted nature of the inner journey, inviting viewers to reflect on their own paths towards self-awareness and meaning.
