Inspiration for this painting came when I discovered an abandoned, derelict old boat, finding it full of character. Colours of the rusting patina, cracked paint and textures of decay were beautiful, compelling me to recreate them in an abstracted painting.
Working intuitively using collage, texture mediums and acrylic paint, I express my interpretation of the boats hull, and the imagined archipelagos, inlets and sea passages the vessel may have journeyed. However, I leave the interpretation totally up to the viewer.
