Run Wild

Alle Fiba is an emerging artist based in Brisbane (Meanjin). By day she is a teacher; by night she experiments with a variety of digital and traditional art styles. Alle is finding a balance between the competing demands of being a mother, spouse, and friend while also pursuing her artistic passions.

Alle battles with depression and anxiety, as well as other potential diagnoses that are currently swept under her living room rug. She grew up caring for her mother who has bipolar disorder, shaped by all the complexities that go along with it. These experiences make her a much more interesting person; albeit a quirky and overthinking one.

'Run Wild' is a complex portrait that captures the essence of being a free spirit and not wanting to be pigeon-holed or controlled. Through a medley of linework and colour, my work evokes the sensation of frenetic motion. The juxtaposition of the soulful eyes against their bright surroundings draws you in with a wistful quality. It poses the question - are you running away from something, or towards it?
