Retreating Within

Di is an artist from South East Queensland who looks to nature to seek solace from the troubles of everyday life. When the world outside is overwhelming, the natural world is where Di's anxiety loosens its hold; where she feels safe and heard. Working in acrylic and mixed media, Di always embraces play and discovery through her works, finding joy in colour and organic forms. Profoundly inspired by the intricate tapestry of our natural world, she explores the boundaries of different media to explore, understand, and connect to nature. Di's art seeks to share that quiet space with her audience, encouraging others to find solace in the natural world too.

I created this artwork to discover that place where the mind can rest and regenerate. The dark space becomes smaller; the waves of relief wash over me as I sit in the garden in my quiet space. This painting explores a state of mind; the transition from stress and anxiety to peace and quiet. Sharing my art supports me to step outside myself and connect with another person who might also feel the relief.
