Quiet Inspiration of the Spirit

Jacqui is Brisbane-based artist whose work explores the tension between sensual femininity and female rage. Growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s, her work is influenced by toxic diet culture, subtle and not-so-subtle misogyny, and the power of empowerment. Her work aims to create a space for those who have, at any point, fallen victim to the thorns of the patriarchy and are now seeking self-empowerment.

Andrew is an autodidact artist from Redcliffe who creates work with bold colour choices and a hidden complexity of simplicity. With a keen eye for design and composition, Andrew's work is deceptively illustrative. Andrew lets the paint sing for him, which gives him a voice when the right words escape him.

'Quiet Inspiration of the Spirit' was designed by Andrew Walters and brought to life by Jacqui Kucharski. Neither artist saw the other's creation prior to it being unveiled at this exhibition. Of this design, Andrew says, "I wanted to create an open narrative on the subject of inspiration of the creative pursuit of an artist. Is it the experience, the environment, or the spirit that drives to communicate without words?"
