Based in Toowoomba, Cindy MacDonald is a contemporary artist known for her expressive charcoal portraits and evocative figurative work. An active presence in her local arts community, she is co- founder of The Toowoomba Studio Art Trail, and Drawn Away Art Retreats with Jeanne and Cindy. Having experienced mental health challenges, Cindy has found art, in combination with her faith, to be a deeply restorative force. She finds this sentiment also rings true for others who have connected to her through her art.

Cindy's practice explores human character and nature through sensitive observation, reflecting a deep love of drawing and the enduring power of portraiture. Cindy regularly exhibits her work and loves to share her knowledge of portraiture through workshops.

'Pulchritudo' takes its title from latin, meaning 'beauty' - reflecting a quiet, inward grace rather than outward perfection. Drawn in soft charcoal, the portrait emerges through delicate layers of line and shadow, allowing softness and fragility to coexist with strength. The lower gaze and dissolving edges create a sense of intimacy  and contemplation, inviting the viewer to consider beauty as something transient, emotional, and deeply human.
