Presence
Kim Price is a Brisbane-based emerging artist with a practice focusing on collage and abstract acrylic works. Beginning her creative journey more than ten years ago, Kim’s early work centred on drawing and watercolour, however she was increasingly drawn to collage as her main artistic medium from 2019. In 2023, Kim left her corporate career to work full-time as an artist and to care for her mum who has dementia. Art is a shared passion for them both and provides opportunities for outings to art galleries and shows. Kim regularly exhibits her work within Australia and continues to expand her knowledge and understanding of collage and her artistic practice.

‘Presence’ is part of a series inspired by the quilts made by the women in my family - all incredible artisans whose work was often underappreciated. I’ve also been influenced by Anni Albers, one of the most important textile artists and designers of the 20th century who explored the interplay between dynamic patterns and bold colour combinations. ‘Presence’ incorporates papers made using the gelli plate, before being arranged and glued into a grid-based composition.
