On-Edge Raccoon
Kerry’s artistic practice began while encouraging her young son to pursue his artistic talents. She was surprised to discover the healing power of art in her own life, as painting transports her to another world. Anxiety still exists but now there is something more powerful that can override it. Kerry's favourite medium is oil paint, with its smooth, buttery consistency allowing for many techniques. Her work reflects the emotional connection she feels to her subjects.

Peering over the edge of safety, this raccoon reflects the quiet struggle of facing an environment that feels too big to navigate. Its expression holds that familiar internal freeze - the moment when anxiety gathers so heavily that moving forward feels impossible. In that pause, the painting becomes a gentle acknowledgment of how overwhelming those moments can be, and how real that stillness is when the world presses in.
