Ochre Reverie

Chanté Ranclaud is an Australian artist creating contemporary botanical works inspired by the diverse character of Australia’s native flora. Through colour, movement, and layered mark-making, she creates atmospheric compositions that invite a sense of connection, emotion, and place.

'Ochre Reverie' speaks to the spirit of the Australian landscape. Inspired by the rich tradition of natural earth pigments, this work explores a growing fascination with ochre and its connection to place, memory, and identity. Created after the birth of my son, the painting carries personal significance, deepening my exploration of Country through the lens of his Aboriginal heritage. Returning to the canvas became a reflective act, revealing that motherhood and creativity are not separate paths.
