Mother of Tides

Monica is an Australian contemporary artist and the creative force behind Monicartist. Originally trained in engineering and completing a PhD, Monica turned to painting after experiencing burnout, trauma, and profound personal loss. Art became a place of healing, self-discovery, and emotional expression. 

Inspired by flowers, memory, movement, and quiet human emotion, her work blends structured composition with softness and atmosphere. Monica’s paintings are known for their dreamy palettes, layered brushwork, and emotionally reflective presence. Her artistic style, described as 'emotional atmosphere realism' explores themes of resilience, tenderness, connection, and transformation.
