Morning Matcha
Despite her tumultuous health journey, Brisbane artist Liz Pepper continues to pave her way forward, paintbrush in hand, sharing her work through her platform, Colour of October.
For over a decade, art has played a pivotal role in Liz’s healing. Just as she has been transformed by her life experiences, so too has her art. Once focused on replicating unadulterated reality, Liz's work now centres on recreating a feeling and telling a story through expressive use of colour and mark-making.
Working across a variety of media to suit her needs as an artist living with disability, Liz aims to acknowledge the seemingly mundane or unnoticed moments of joy that help get us through the day.

Beginning the day with a nice hot coffee or matcha is an important part of my morning ritual. Time spent sipping on a latte is time reserved for the quiet before the chaos of the day ahead. I can count on this routine to ground me, no matter where I am in the world. Having such a familiar comfort at the start of each day can be enough to remind myself, “Hey, maybe it’s going to be okay.”
