Carly is an artist from Brisbane/Meanjin who works with acrylic paint in a bold, expressive style. Her chosen works put forward for Recovered Futures represent part of a huge catalogue of paintings made in recovery, after being diagnosed with bipolar type one affective disorder. They express how it felt to endure this new medicated life. The two paintings chosen, reflect the utter mania and darkest depression and the difficulty in accepting this difficult disease.
Maniacs. They wait, just dying to come out and play. With fireworks. Forget a pill, the weather changes, a crisis occurs; mania is a-cute-ly waiting to pounce!
