Ron is an Ipswich-based photographer who thankfully found photography as a therapeutic escape for depression caused by childhood trauma and, more recently, a failed business venture. Ron says the impact of discovering photography has been life-changing; without it, he fears there is a high chance he would have become another statistic.

Despite being one of the eight per cent of men with colour vision deficiency in the red-green category, it hasn't impacted Ron's creative practice. Never one to pigeonhole himself into just one photographic genre, Ron has explored a wide range of subjects, including landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, architecture, sports, and more recently, creative photographic art.

'Lower Burnett Lane' captures the vibrancy of Brisbane CBD’s oldest laneway. By night, it comes alive with culture-seekers drawn to its history, hidden art, lively bars, and inviting cafés. This image reverses the familiar perspective, looking back up the lane rather than towards the coffee shop.

The photographic base image has been transformed through layered copies of the original, shifted into different orientations and blended using varied modes. The final composition evokes the chaotic vision swirling within my mind.
