Lost
Di is an artist from Logan City who has lived with anxiety for most of her life. She is also the mother of a son with mental health challenges who lives with her. Finding comfort in the natural world, Di paints mostly in acrylics, creating works that help her feel both safe and heard. When the outside world becomes overwhelming, nature offers her an escape.
Di's art seeks to capture the essence of landscapes - the beauty found in details from small rocks to towering waterfalls. Through vibrant colours and semi-abstract forms, her paintings celebrate both the resilience and beauty of nature. Surrounded by plants and enriched by birdsong, Di finds solace and strength in her creative practice.

I created this work while caring for my son, as a way of expressing this particular moment in time. The figure looks toward the light but cannot yet see a way forward - a path to navigate the journey ahead. The road is unfamiliar and unclear, and his mind is troubled. This painting serves as a metaphor for life’s passage: the journey can lead to growth and success, but the way forward is often uncertain and difficult. Along the way, the traveller needs guidance, support, and moments of stillness. In these times, nature can offer both clarity and comfort.
