Rosemary has been painting her whole life. She was born in Victoria, travelled the world and spent some years in the Netherlands, moved to Brisbane and ultimately settled on the Sunshine Coast/Kabi Kabi/Jinibara.
Rosemary developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following a home invasion in 2014. A subsequent physical assault in 2020 left her without proper use of her hands resulted in an increased focus on recovery through painting.
With bandaged hands, chores and activities such as domestic duties, guitar, piano, drums, crochet, gardening and the like were out of the question.
Rosemary instead tricycled to sites around the Sunshine Coast painting on location and generating local interest and much encouragement.
Rosemary continues to produce detailed acrylic on canvas paintings of great quality and beauty.

A king parrot family regularly visits the Casuarina trees surrounding our garden. I created this piece by painting from a bunch of photos of a juvenile parrot that my husband took. I painted the subject with a nod to the Renaissance style and how a royal subject would be depicted.
