Simone Sequeira (STUDIO SIMMI) makes art from the places where cracks meet colour. A neuroqueer printmaker born in Magandjin to immigrant parents of Goan heritage, she is carving up a storm from the margins. Her work explores identity, belonging, and the messy process of becoming. Through her work, Simone embraces contradiction - strength and softness; rebellion and tenderness; humour and vulnerability.

What began as a therapeutic creative practice has evolved into a journey of self-discovery, recovery, and radical honesty. Increasingly unfiltered and disruptive, Simone explores stories of hurt, hope, joy, and transformation. She believes creativity, community and making with our hands are pathways to healing and connection. She passionately champions accessible art, creative prescriptions, and encourages others to embrace the beautiful imperfect spirits that make us human.

I created this self-portrait from raw feeling, sitting in the dirt. I overthink, over-analyse, and over-critique everything I make. 'Ketpacity Building' represents an escape from that. It is a moment of distress, expressed on paper, without a plan. It focuses on the hard dichotomy of chemical medication - medication helps me function better, but behind the mask there is still a manic, frazzled, angry sadness. Maintaining the mask brings its own stress – is it worth the price I pay for improved capacity?
