Itty Bitty Batty- Defender of the Weird and Wonderful Everywhere

Lisa Blake loves to create bright and colourful artworks - often featuring animals and patterns - which enable her to use her vivid imagination. During long periods of chronic depression, she usually finds working on uplifting or humorous creations to be therapeutic. She also likes to make other people smile. In the past couple of years, Lisa has started exploring upcycling in her arts practice. Despite her brain being full of creative ideas, Lisa has found it difficult in recent years to bring many of them to life due to her poor mental health state.

Alongside painting, Lisa enjoys engaging in random, crafty projects and creating zines about her mischievous cat's alter-ego, 'Catzilla'.

Itty Bitty Batty was inspired by a photo I saw of a mini goblin bat on the internet (a real animal). I wanted to make the mini goblin bat into a superhero in my artwork and prove that even the smallest of us can have the biggest hearts - and do our communities the world of good.  So best not to judge anyone by their appearance!
