Lyne Johnson is from country Queensland. While at school she loved art, but it was not considered a viable career path by her family.
Around 20 years ago, Lyne had a change in circumstances that led to picking up the brush again. Lyne found painting helped reduce anxiety and depression and after investing many years into her practice and study - she shared her gift with others through local shows.
Lyne has completed private commissions, as well as received numerous art awards and she often draws upon themes of Australiana - landscapes, seascapes, works inspired by Dorothea Mackellar’s poem, 'My Country'. More recently she has found greater depth in her work by exploring soundscapes.
The inspiration for 'My Country' has come from renowned Australian poet, Dorothea Mackellar. Her poem 'My Country' was written while Dorothea was homesick in England in 1908.
