Held

Yvie is a Brisbane/Meanjin based mixed media artist, whose background is in community art and teaching. She has coined herself a 'process artist', explaining that her art making is less about trying to control any medium, and more about working alongside it. She is sometimes surprised by where the journey leads, and there are always side quests! Yvie's vibrant abstracts often take on ethereal or whimsical natural forms.

'Held' is a self-portrait of sorts. As I was painting the final shapes, I realised this piece was almost a metaphor for taking the busyness and all the side quests my brain wants to go on and trying to control it - to hold it all inside a vase.
