I painted 'Golden Tears' to resemble the nature of experiencing grief and its echo through the use of gold. Fine gold cracks symbolise ‘Kintsugi'; the ancient Japanese art practice of repairing broken pottery with gold.

Kintsugi reminds us of the impermanence of all things – nothing stays forever. Our lives are infused with fragility, setbacks and unpredictability.

'Golden Tears' communicates time; with time love grows stronger than absence, casting beauty in the broken remnants of our lives.
