Francie Evans is a contemporary figurative and still life artist based in Brisbane. Her works are typically grounded in realism and showcase a soft luminance and painterly brushstrokes, reminiscent of the Impressionists, Pre-Raphaelites, and Romantics.

Francie began oil painting in 2021, finding the practice to be an opportunity for mindfulness and escapism. Working as a medical scientist, and a mother to two young sons, Francie has found painting to be a form of therapy, using it to help her understand and move through the anxiety and depression she has experienced. She seeks to capture a feeling of freedom and peace in her paintings, while inspiring others to find their own paths towards self discovery and growth.

The old adage, 'the older I get, the less I know', is a mantra I am coming to appreciate more and more. As a young adult, I dreamed of achieving something meaningful with my life, through academic pursuits and tangible humanitarian or philanthropic outcomes. I admire the conviction of my younger self, however the chaos of this world is so overwhelming. I am learning that observing the way light is cast over fruit and fabric at sunset - capturing lightness and shadow, colour and tone - can be as meaningful a pursuit as any.
