Galactic Glow
MYK TAYLOR is an emerging Brisbane-based artist specialising in mixed media abstract paintings on canvas. Working intuitively rather than through rigid structure, her practice is guided by emotion, movement, and personal experience. During a particularly challenging period in 2025, MYK turned to art as a way of processing grief and navigating emotional recovery. Her abstract works became a visual language for expressing feelings that were difficult to articulate, transforming pain into reflection, resilience, and connection back to self. Through layered textures and expressive mark-making, MYK invites viewers to engage with the complexities of mental health, healing, and the human experience.

'Galactic Glow' explores the way emotions arrive without warning - sudden, bright, and rarely in a linear order. Like stars scattered across the night sky, feelings have a way of appearing all at once, illuminating parts of ourselves we may not yet fully understand. Through intuitive layers of colour, texture, and movement, this work embraces the beauty of emotional unpredictability rather than trying to make sense of it. At its heart, this painting is a reminder that every feeling has a place, even the overwhelming ones that feel as though they are bursting out of you. Joy, grief, hope, and uncertainty all deserve to exist. Rather than resisting what we feel, 'Galactic Glow' invites us to trust that every emotion, no matter how chaotic, contributes to the constellation of who we are.
