Justine is a British-born fine artist & photographer based in sunny Brisbane.
Her vibrant, deeply observant works celebrate borrowed moments of beauty, emotion, wonder, charm, vulnerability, connection, chaos and calm – marvels expressed and pondered through her uniquely kaleidoscopic palette.
Through her work Justine hopes to inspire renewed curiosity, conservation, care, and appreciation for the phenomenal designs surrounding us in nature, and the open-mouthed awe they can instil in the quiet, grateful observer who cares to look.
As a nurse Justine has witnessed countless mental health journeys, both personally and professionally. She loves helping others find healing through art and nature, and acknowledges the stirring power of purposeful colours, intelligent designs and intricate details in re-kindling hope from darkness and indifference.
My artwork was inspired after finding an impressively fierce, increasingly vulnerable ‘Powerful Owl’ (threatened throughout Australia), deceased on a busy road.
As with humans, loss of just one member will affect an entire family.
This piece represents our own delicate human reality as we navigate life’s chaotic flight of uncertainties and unpredictability; taking chances, justifying risks, seizing opportunities, and fighting for each day with courage.
The colours represent the people, hopes/ desires that motivate us to persevere in our fight.
