I created this piece after a recent trip to Cyprus, where my father was born. The art I saw, from ancient to modern, is so closely embedded with the sea. Using ancient pottery painted with octopi as references while adding my own touch of colour, I hoped to add to the continuum of depictions of these intelligent and otherworldly creatures. The creation process felt like an extension of the Mediterranean journey and a way to maintain contact with my heritage.
