Cool Camellia

Having lived in Brisbane for 30 years, Sue is a 2D visual artist painting in acrylics and oils. Inspired by various indoor and outdoor environments, Sue enjoys exploring her neighbourhood and home. Photos taken during her adventures become inspiration for paintings she will later create. She then moves to her studio, where concepts and reference material transform into paint and pigment.

Sue's lived experience of bipolar disorder and fibromyalgia shape her work, allowing her to incorporate symptoms such as  widespread pain and extreme fatigue in a symbolic way.

Staying strong through life's ups and downs can be beautiful and scary at the same time. My painting symbolises the inner strength needed to face both life’s challenges and beauty at the same time, while balancing my invisible inner world of bipolar and fibromyalgia.
