Mark du Potiers is a sculptor born, raised and based in Brisbane/Meanjin, with Australian, Hong Kong, and Chinese heritage.
Mark often finds himself in the minority – especially from being visibly non-Caucasian, and also queer – and is interested in how identity, sexuality, and mental health challenges form and change across multi-cultural contexts.

I created ‘Clotho’ when I returned to university. I always wanted to study art and after several false starts, here I was older and wiser; finally, but I put immense pressure on myself, and my crippling anxiety reappeared.
In the struggle, I found sculpture more satisfying than painting, and I never exhibited this work publicly. Learning many of my challenges come from ADHD has helped me heal since. In revisiting this painting, I can happily say I’m diving in again…
