Jacqui is Brisbane-based artist whose work explores the tension between sensual femininity and female rage. Growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s, her work is influenced by toxic diet culture, subtle and not-so-subtle misogyny, and the power of empowerment. Her work aims to create a space for those who have, at any point, fallen victim to the thorns of the patriarchy and are now seeking self-empowerment.

Given 'juxtaposition' is one of her favourite words, Jacqui's work involves soft, sensuous forms who are often found supporting more polarising topics. One doesn't have to give up their femininity in the fight for equality, even if it involves blood, sweat, and tears.

I grew up with Spanish-speaking grandparents, however I lost what little connection I had to my Chilean heritage through living in Australia and going to an English-speaking primary school. I do not know what it means to be Chilean, but I do know what it means to be Australian. This is an exploration of my relationship to Chilean culture.
