Changing Matters

Leigh-Ellen Roundhill discovered her passion for art and creativity at an early age. With her sense for adventure, love of nature, and tendency to collect various objects, she felt a need to escape a world unsuited to her. This resulted in a lot of alone time and an unrestricted imagination to create whatever she wishes. Leigh-Ellen's artistic practice was reignited later in life as her mental health declined. She used art as a tool to assist in self-awareness and coping. Continuing to expand on her skills by challenging her abilities both mentally and physically, Leigh-Ellen works with different mediums and experiments across various genres. Art, along with gardening, allows her to remain stable, productive, and self-gratifying; giving her purpose to keep going.

This work is an intricate celebration of transformation. The Paua shells' shimmering layers shift with light and movement, reflecting a dynamic journey of growth. We consider how learning new skills and embracing fresh perspectives reshape the way we live following unexpected challenges. The detailed patterns in the artwork mirror life's interconnected pathways, reminding us that true change can be achieved.
