Cellist Enchanted

Stew is an artist who has lived with mental health issues since his early teen years. Despite this, he has always been happy creating art, which has been a great outlet, healing mechanism, and diversion to help him cope with challenges and feel a sense of achievement. Stew loves working across many mediums, but he is particularly drawn to creating intricate miniature engravings on stone. Inspired by ancient seal stones, Stew's tiny works of art resemble miniature paintings carved into stone. He also crafts a variety of artistic jewellery, extending his creativity into wearable forms.

I created this pastel to reflect my love of listening to stringed instruments, with an aim to display the players' intensity, love of the instrument, and musicality. I love working across various mediums, but when working on paper, I prefer pastels. I particularly love the variety of colours that pastel pencils come in and the handy, compact size of them.
