Brisbane/Meanjin based artist, Gina Ward, is known for her structured compositions that intertwine bold tones with hidden emotional depth. While flirting between architectural and figurative subjects, her paintings are infused with refreshingly clean contrasting abstract lines that are harmonised with a dynamic tonal palette.
Gina's art explores the interconnectedness and multi-dimensionality of our rapidly changing world by deconstructing familiar forms into fundamental geometric elements. Her signature sharp defining edges evoke additional depth and dimension through the subtle mismatching of her geometric compositions questioning perception.
The sense of structure and form within her pieces can be linked to her need and want for structure in her own life through her lived experiences with anxiety.

Within the geometric components and vibrant palette lies my subtle and silent companion. The moment is mostly unexpected and sudden, but always there – albeit from a distance. Amidst the silver lining and glow of the moon, contemplation, resilience and perspective is highlighted in the ever-changing shifting phases of life.
‘Blue Moon’ has taken on a life of itself and turned out to be a deeply personal expression of my experience with anxiety.
