Eloise Ball is a 23-year-old mixed media artist based in Ipswich. She has had a love of all things creative since childhood and is superbly gifted in visual art. Her exceptional talent has been recognised throughout her education and life beyond.
Eloise is known for her mastery of media and impeccable technical skill; she dances through different styles, from hyperrealism to whimsical illustrations. Themes of femininity, nature and the surreal are commonly seen throughout her prolific body of work.
For Eloise, art is a form of self-exploration, meditation and therapy as she navigates life with schizophrenia. Through her art-making practice, she finds moments of reflective stillness and joy.
Eloise began painting this portrait of her best friend, Arielle Hankinson, in June 2023 and completed it in January 2024; it is her most major artwork. Striving for (and achieving!) perfection, Eloise meticulously ensured all details from the reference image were included, from glitter adorning the eyelids to stray hairs.
This six-month labour of love involved sharing her progress with her mother Theresa, father Phillip and Arielle, who all provided feedback and support throughout the process.
