Anne Scanlon is a self-taught mixed media artist specialising in oil pastels. A lover of the quirky, the colourful, the beautiful and nostalgic, Anne seeks to create connection with her audience with works designed to raise a smile and bring joy.
From a very young age, her wide-eyed love of colour and detail has been the jumping off point for each piece she creates.
She feels her lived experience of high-functioning anxiety is a great superpower in her art, as it allows her to see what another set of eyes might miss. Her art is a way for another soul to see the world through her own unique vision.

My work is traditionally detail driven, but like so many artists, I am constantly dancing between the pull of the familiar and that of the new. In this piece, I used my intimate knowledge of floral form and hues to create a largely imaginative contemporary floral, saturated in colour. For me, the textures, form, colours, and feel-good factor of flowers make them irresistible to express here in rich oil pastel.
