Born in Canberra, Jacqueline Ripoll has always been a creative who struggled with her mental health. Growing up, Jacqueline, like most young teens in her generation, was force-fed images of the 'ideal body'. A reflection of her past is seen within her current works, which push hard against these damaging ideals.
Since moving to Brisbane/Meanjin in 2019, she has dedicated herself to a creative career and opening a discussion about body image and identity.

I grew up loving soft, romantic and detailed art, however, I never saw myself in it. You don’t realise the effect that has on you until you’re much older and have had your own fair share of disordered relationships with diet culture and your body. Enough. We all deserve to be seen and in the same soft light that others are. This piece is an acceptance, a celebration. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
