A Dawning, Dusky, Calm
Life has thrown many challenges to Brownie. Some have been physical; some emotional - but almost all of them took her by surprise. Brownie is a late bloomer when it comes to art - a self-taught, emerging artist who enjoys experimenting with a variety of mediums. Working predominantly with mixed media, art gives Brownie permission to express herself, without conforming to rules and guidelines. With a particular passion for abstracts, neo-expressionism, and overlaying vibrant colour with zentangles, Brownie works intuitively and has a lot of fun creating her artworks. By losing herself in the process, she realises how peaceful it is to exist in that space.
A figurative expressionist style in acrylic and charcoal, this piece conveys a mood, an uncertainty; created by layering colours and textures in a muted palette. Is it the calm before a brewing storm? Is it an expectant dawn, ready for a new day? Is it dusk, a settling down of the day; tired but happy and ready to accept the night? Whatever it is, something is about to change.
