Rachel is an emerging Brisbane/Meanjin-based artist, known for creating vibrant, textured artworks filled with joyful energy. Rachel is especially drawn to flowers for their universal symbolism - they speak of love, change, celebration, and memory.
Although Rachel initially followed a career in law, she returned to her childhood love of art after experiencing postnatal anxiety - not just as an outlet, but as a way of being. Rachel's early motherhood experiences have allowed her to truly appreciate the deep therapeutic power of art, as well as the importance and beauty of slowing down and reclaiming her intuition.

I regularly start my day on my sunny back steps, holding a cup of tea and playing the '5-4-3-2-1' game with my children. This involves spotting five things we can see, four we can hear, three we can feel, two we can smell and one we can taste. I created this piece to capture the unexpected delights and calmness that is experienced when bringing our mind to 'where our feet are'.
