Kris Stokman is a local emerging artist whose interest lies in exploring realism through his paintings, as well as the fantasy genre of other worlds and mythical creatures.
Kris works primarily in water mixable oils on canvas and is also developing skills in digital media, creating his own Dungeons and Dragons characters.
Kris is currently exploring all aspects of photography, especially capturing wildlife in their natural habitat. He is using these images as inspiration for future paintings in both real and imagined landscapes.
Being behind the camera allows Kris to explore the world around him without the fear and anxiety which is always present whenever he leaves his home.
The spiritual meaning of a meerkat symbolises community, teamwork and family values. They are the undisputed role models for community living – guarding their mob with fierce loyalty.
I enjoy observing life around me which is why I am drawn to the meerkats. Their social behaviour and quirky antics make them the perfect inspiration for photography and art works using oils, which allows me to create the layers synonymous with my attention to fine detail.
