Artworks are first available for purchase by sponsors and dignitaries before being available in person at the Exhibition in Brisbane. Unsold artworks can also be purchased online following the event.
"I'm always seeking to stretch my imagination and creativity! I’ve previously done a mixed media piece with miniature swimmers tying their coach down with lane ropes and stopwatches while he sleeps. It was fun and I’ve been wanting to do another with miniature people. So here it is! Little earth people hang on tight to tree roots and leaves used as parachutes, as they fight for survival against the power of nature."
Prior to a serious and life-threatening medical incident at the beginning of 2020, Sue Palmer was accepted to study a Master of Visual Arts. She regrettably withdrew from the program shortly after commencing, with a lengthy recovery ahead of her. This experience has now influenced her work.
Sue studied art through senior high school, choosing it as an elective subject while attaining her Bachelor of Education, achieving high distinctions.
Sue’s primary practice is acrylic and mixed media paintings, but she has more recently taken to charcoal drawing, oil and soft pastel paintings, which she’s become equally fond of. Other interests lie in mixed media sculptures, with wood being the primary medium. She also chooses to incorporate found objects - her small contribution to reducing landfill.
