Jordan Lambi is an emerging artist based in Brisbane/Meanjin who grew up surrounded by art, influenced by his established visual artist parent.
Although art was a significant part of his early life, other passions initially took precedence. It wasn't until 2020 that Jordan reignited his artistic journey.
Since then, he has immersed himself in artistic expression, culminating in his work being featured and sold at the 2023 Recovered Futures Art Exhibition. Jordan’s paintings are characterised by bold colours and fluid forms, created with oils in an instinctive, expressionist style. His work aims to evoke deep emotions, with each piece evolving organically as the painting unfolds.

This painting started out as a sketch in 2021, which gave me the creeps and I didn't know why. After experiencing a personal traumatic event later that year, this drawing and all my artworks featuring leering eyes started to make sense.
The joyful and vibrant colours contrast the darker subject which I found an interesting challenge. I held off painting this for some time as I knew it would be confronting, but I found it to be cathartic too.
