Under The Surface
Linda is a visual artist who creates 2D works - using oils, acrylics, and pastels - and 3D works across various mediums including ceramics and installations. She acquired PTSD in her workplace in 2021 and is now in recovery, using her art practice as a vital outlet to express and support her healing journey.
Through her work, Linda channels her mental health experiences into creative expression, finding strength and connection in the process. Whether working with oils on canvas, pastels on paper, or sculptural forms, Linda continues to explore art as both therapy and transformation.
In September 2024, I visited Les Jardins d'Eau de Carsac (The Water Gardens of Carsac) in the town of Carsac-Aillac, France. From above, I observed large koi fish gliding elegantly through the ponds. However, when viewed through the side glass of the pond, their underwater movements appeared more anxious and tense. This juxtaposition of perspectives reminded me of ourselves - the calm exterior we often present to the world, while inside, anxiety and hypervigilance may be heightened.
