The Watchful King

Kerry Beazleigh’s artistic practice began whilst encouraging her young son to pursue his artistic talents. She was surprised to discover the healing power of art in her own life. 

Kerry feels like painting transports her to another world; anxiety still exists but now there is something more powerful that can override it. Art breaks the hold anxiety has over her; it’s like nothing else exists except each brushstroke. 

Kerry's favourite medium to work with is oil paints. She loves their smooth buttery consistency, which allows her to explore many different techniques. To Kerry, art is an ever-growing lifelong learning process, and she looks forward to seeing where this journey takes her in the future.

With this painting, I sought to capture the lion's powerful presence. His expression feels wise, watchful, and commanding - you can see why he is called the King of the Jungle. He appears deep in thought, yet fully ready to pounce when action is needed. I hope that when you view this painting, you feel connected to the power within yourself.
