By Alex Temesuary

Alex Temesuary is a Brisbane-based artist whose bold, colourful style draws inspiration from tattoo and graffiti art. He began drawing at 16 and soon discovered painting, which has become a source of calm, confidence, and pride.

Alex has been involved in the Lotus Art Group for over a decade, holding his first solo exhibition in 2021. As a neurodivergent person and Forgotten Australian, he has faced significant challenges - yet art continues to be his way of expressing himself, building connections, and finding belonging.

I have a long-standing fascination with dragons and have painted many over the years, each one unique in its design and expression. Inspired by the symbolism of dragons in Asian cultures - where they are seen as powerful symbols of luck and strength - I often draw from oriental styles in my work. One of my most personal pieces is a dragon tattoo on my back, which I designed myself. I mixed my own colours and adapted traditional forms to create something that feels distinctly my own. To me, this dragon embodies strength, energy, and individuality. My art is a central part of how I express myself, and this piece reflects that deeply.
