"This painting is inspired by a memorable snorkelling experience on the Great Barrier Reef with my two sisters. That day, we were immersed in the amazingly vibrant colours of the reef.
My sister told me that watching a sea turtle is the definition of being present - the way they gracefully glide through the water, gentle and awe-inspiring. The ocean and nature continue to soothe my anxiety by taking me to a place of peace and calm."
As someone who has always had an anxious mind, Lisa McGruer describes art as her purest form of self-care and self-expression. Depicting the beauty of our natural world through her paintings brings Lisa a strong sense of peace and joy. With a paint brush in her hand, she feels truly present in the creation process.
Despite anxiety making Lisa feel as though she lives in the chaos of peak-hour traffic at times, she strives to be someone who sees the world through an optimistic lens and embraces all of the beautiful moments life has to offer.
